We had the honor of co-organizing the @Hama Youth Conference 2018 in Tanga, Tanzania the weekend of 16th and 17th of June. The central aim of the conference was to inspire Tanzanian youth to make informed and inner-motivated career choices, while also informing them of the option of starting their own businesses.
In addition to co-organizing and consulting on the project management of the conference, our founder, Sarah Øverby, contributed with her Global Shapers network (https://www.globalshapers.org/) and mobilized Shapers in Dar Es Salaam and Arusha. The end goal was to bring young local role models that could inspire the participating students to see that it is possible to create change in their local community. Sarah was also the facilitator for the Introduction to Entrepreneurship workshop and the business plan competition
Our concept developer and graphic designer, Anita Hvambsahl, contributed with the design of all marketing materials and concept development. Both Sarah and Anita facilitated the introduction to the IT/Media and Communication field together with local professionals.
The conference was hosted by HAMA and held at the TICC, and the project leader was Anna Nigicser (study advisor in Bjorknes University). A big thank you to them for their hard work and determination, especially to Anna Nigicser.
Every student at the conference got access to Smart Core (https://smartcore.co.tz/) where they can take online educational courses from a local Tanzanian company.
